Att människor idag avstår från att delta i sociala aktiviteter i samhället på grund av att de känner sig otrygga i kollektivtrafiken, och då särskilt på hållplatser och vägarna till och från, går inte ihop med Göteborgsregionens mål om en ökad användning av kollektivtrafiken. För att få fler att välja kollektivtrafiken som färdmedel måste tryggheten kring hållplatserna öka, vilket skulle innebära fördelar för både hälsa, miljö och välfärd. Det är speciellt kvinnor som anger att de, särskilt kvällstid, avstår från vissa aktiviteter för att de inte känner sig trygga på hållplatsen eller väljer att gå långa omvägar hem för att de känner sig otrygga. Olika fysiska åtgärder, i det offentliga rummet, påverkar den upplevda tryggheten hos människor och med enkla medel tryggheten öka avsevärt på en plats. Syftet med detta arbete är att belysa trygghetsfrågor i samband med hållplatser i Göteborg för att bidra till den debatt som finns angående trygghet i kollektivtrafiken. För att göra detta har en analysmetod tagits fram och ett verktyg har utformats för att undersöka tryggheten på en hållplats och dess närmaste omgivning. Detta kommer att underlätta prioriteringar och utveckling av platsen ur en trygghetssynpunkt. En omfattande litteraturstudie har genomförts för att få en uppfattning av begreppet trygghet och vad det innebär. Genom den, ett samarbete med Trafikkontoret och White arkitekter, platsbesök och samtal med sakkunniga har en utvärderingsmall arbetats fram med olika kategorier och frågor som möjliggör en trygghetsanalys. Marklandsgatan, Wavrinskys Plats och Nordstan är tre hållplatser som har använts som utgångspunkter och det är på dessa mallens resultat och åtgärdsförslag grundar sig på. Utvärderingsmallen, som är resultatet på detta arbete, är en början på en utveckling mot ett mer trygghetsbetonat arbete i stadens rum, och då särskilt riktat mot hållplatser och dess närmaste omgivning. En slutsats som dragits är att mallen inte är något avslutat verktyg utan är baserat på hur det ser ut idag i samhället, vad det finns för kunskaper och inställningar till trygghet. I och med att samhället utvecklas så måste även mallen göra det men detta är en grundidé till hur en trygghetsundersökning av en hållplats och dess närmaste omgivning skulle kunna gå till. ABSTRACT The fact that people today choose not to participate in social activities because they do not feel safe in the public transport system, particularly on bus- and tram stops, as well as on the pathways to and from the stops does not align with the goal of an increased use of the public transport system in Gothenburg. To get more people to use public transports the safety addressing the issue needs to increase, which would bring benefits to the health, the environment and the welfare in the society. It is especially women, who indicate that they choose not to participate in different kind of activities, usually in the evening, because they do not feel safe on the bus- and tram stops, and instead they choose to walk long detours based on the sense of not feeling safe, or do not go out at all. Different kinds of physical measures in public spaces affect the experienced level of safety, and simple measures can significantly increase the perceived level of safety on a site. The purpose with this project is to illustrate safety issues associated with bus-and tram stops in Gothenburg, this to make a contribution to the debate about the safety issues in the public transport system. To do this, a method of analyzing has been developed together with a tool designed to investigate the perceived safety of a stop and its nearest surroundings. This will facilitate priorities and the development of the site from a perspective addressing safety. A comprehensive study of literature has been done to get an understanding of the concept safety. With the help of the study, cooperation with Trafikkontoret and White architectures, site visits, and discussions with experts, an evaluation template has been made, with different kinds of categories and questions that enable an analysis of safety. The three stops that have been used as a base are Marklandsgatan, Wavrinskys plats, and Nordstan. It is from these a result of the evaluation template has been reached and from it the measure proposal has been created. The evaluation template, that is the result of this project, is a start of a development towards work more focused on the safety issue in the city, particularly aimed towards bus-and tram stops and their nearest surroundings. A conclusion of the project is that the template is not a finished tool but is based on the knowledge and the attitude regarding the safety solutions already established in the society today. Since the society develops with time, so must the template do, this is a start of how an investigation of the perceived safety around a bus- or tram stop and its closest surrounding could be done.
