Sammanfattning
This report is the result of the Bachelor’s thesis “Träning och Kost” which was conducted during the spring of 2015 around the concept of Internet of Things. Using a mobile phone, a food scale and an activity tracker, an Android application has been developed in order to study how these items work together in a system. The report analyses and discusses the challenges of how these items relate to Internet of Things, what types of communications are needed for them to communicate with each other, and how this can be implemented in an Android application. The project results in a working mobile application that lets the items communicate with each other using Bluetooth and Internet. The use of a food scale in an application of this kind is what makes the project unique in comparison to similar products. An important point of discussion lies in the unwillingness of companies to provide open APIs for external developer to use. This makes it difficult for developers to create new adaptions of IoT by using existing products. Locked-in APIs also opens up to the question of integrity since it lets companys collect data from the users to a higher extent.
