Abstract
Productivity and efficiency are two very important concepts for producing
companies. These two factors are directly related to the company’s profitability
and are therefore important to analyze and optimize. In this study,
the possibilities for the company Gröna Gårdar to increase their production
capacity are investigated. The study has worked to answer the following
questions:
F1- How can the existing plant achieve a production increase without new
investments?
F2- How can the existing plant achieve a production increase with new investments?
F3- How can the existing plant, together with the buildout, achieve a production
increase?
To answer the questions, a comprehensive data collection was conducted at
the start of the study. Initially, the authors gathered a rough understanding
for the company and its production methodology through observations of
the plant in operation supported by unstructured interviews. Subsequently,
related literature was studied to propose appropriate methods. The chosen
methods and their applicability to this particular study were evaluated and
thereafter the authors proceeded to application.
The selected methods resulted in a number of suggested improvements. However,
the authors did not have the opportunity to take part of the results of
the given suggestions, since they can only be implemented after the study’s
end.
