Title: Design av svetsfixtur för tillverkning av Alfa Laval Uturn™

Abstract: Alfa Laval U-turn™ is an ammonia separator manufactured by Meccom Klippan AB in Klippan. The separator mostly consists of pipes and pipe parts welded together to a device which is mounted on a plate heat exchanger. Alfa Laval U-turn™ is manufactured in different models, such as different sizes or a left/right mounting on the plate heat exchangers. In the following report a concept is created for a fixture that can fixate parts for stapling a part of the ammonia separator. The part of the Alfa Laval U-turn™ that the fixture can be used for is called the oil trough. The oil troughs geometry and its parts have been analysed to find appropriate parts to start with. The method is based on literature regarding welding and designing fixtures for welding. The placement and orientation of the oil trough was decided and supports were placed to hold and locate its parts correctly. Smaller prototypes were manufactured to verify the design, choice of material thickness, manufacturing technique and tolerances. The work has resulted in a final concept. The concept consists of a CAD-model designed to be cut out by laser at Meccom. The mounting of the final concept is based on previously manufactured fixtures by Meccom and prototypes. The fixture can be used for different designs on the same model. Templates for marking of drill holes is integrated into the fixture to simplify and streamline the manufacturing of the oil trough. The final concept is created with the idea of keeping the manufacturing simple and minimise the risk of errors. The concept consists of very few loose parts and the design of the parts is designed to not be confused and mounted in the wrong place
