dc.description.abstractSince the discovery of bio-molecules and their signifi-cance they have been the object of much study. In order to better understand the structure and dynamics of bio-molecules devices and methods to capture and manipulate features of the molecule has been developed, such as confining long polymers in nano-channels and epifluorescence microscopy. In this report focus has been given to the study of the data properties of data collected from viewing confined long polymers homoge-neously stained along the length of the molecule in order to reduce noise and trace significant features along the molecule in the data. An overview of the polymer physics involved will also be presented along with an overview of the techniques used to capture the data. From the the study of the experimentally obtained data software tools for viewing large single molecules confined in nano-channels is developed. The software is used to view the data in an ordered way by reducing noise, using redun-dancy, and presenting subsets of the data in an interface. The software is also able to detect and trace simple features along the molecule.
