A challenge was adopted to link cancer growth with the spreading of a financial crisis. The two hot topics were defined as complex systems and were treated accordingly. It is a daring innovation to simulate a biological process, that does not optimize its energy production and lead to disaster, with a social system, such as a financial crisis. This project has shown that it is often successful to think outside the box. Simulations have been performed on models inspired by game theory in general and the Minority Game in particular. The results of these shows processes similar to those observed by doctors at the hospitals and economists at the stock exchange. Cells as well as investors make individual choices and the interactions between neighbours results in collective behaviour, like that of a bird flock in the absence of a leader. To think innovatively and to believe in the controversial brings progress. Economic rescue packages have been shown to cause more harm than good for the system in the long run. It is the traits of the agents within the system that determine the degree of disaster, therefore internal solutions is not to be underestimated.
