dc.description.abstract | Home automation is a fast developing area which groups all the technologies to control a home electronic environment. One goal of these technologies is to facilitate the user life by grouping all his devices in a global system and provide them with a unique interface to interact with their environment. The major problem is to create a system which can handles various environments. Furthermore the interface should be really intuitive and nice looking. The aim of this thesis was to develop a such interface which can adapt itself according the available devices and still fitting the design. This have been realized by grouping the controls in groups and using a grid concept to place them. The second part of the thesis was to handle the communication between the application and the system. The application is able to get any information it needs from the server such as the list and the state of all the devices. Moreover, the application is resistant is case of errors with communication, such as incomplete information and loss of connection. | |
