This thesis focuses on the investigation of a high frequency transformer wounded with a coaxial cable. In particular, it concentrates on the effect of leakage inductance in the transformer and the way to minimize it with the help of physical construction of coaxial transformer. The leakage inductance in a coaxial transformer is compared to the one in a traditional transformer. In order to investigate the leakage inductance of the coaxial transformer, experimental performances tests are carried out. These tests are conducted on different cables and on two types of cores using a varying frequency. The experimental and theoretical results are compared, in terms of leakage inductance and magnetizing inductance. The results show satisfying agreement between calculated and measured values. The investigation is carried out on an EC core and on toroidal core consisting of 3F3 material and the results show similar patterns.
