dc.description.abstract | There has been and there still is a need for new sports halls in Gothenburg. These sports halls have similar design regarding both building envelope and technical systems. The purpose of this master thesis is to identify the dominating parameters which affect a sports halls power balance and thereby its’ total annual energy use. The aim of this work is to identify what possibilities to reduce the energy need and at the same time improve the indoor climate. The study is based on analysis of a reference building. Field measurements have been carried out in order to for input to get onformation of indoor temperature and air flow. A number of sports halls have been studied in order to characterise different types of sports facilities. Furthermore, computer simulations have been carried out to analyse how the indoor climate is affected by different internal loads and different building envelope charateristics. The thesis shows that the heat loads due to human activity and lighting installation are those factors which mainly affect sport halls’ heat balance. Furthermore, estimations for the reference object show that 60 % of bought heat energy is needed for hot water, mainly for showering, while 50-60 % of bought electrical energy is needed for lighting. To maintain the indoor temperature at a well defined thermal climate cooling can be necessary. The cooling system should manage peak loads due to lightning and human activity, especially during competetion where there is an audience. Moreover, the illumination should be regulated for example according to Ljuskultur’s recommendations to minimize the internal heat load. | |
