dc.description.abstract | As a result of the world economy’s rapid growth, global competition and challenges are increasing for companies. Consumer demands become sophisticated, insisting on flexible and short product lifecycles. To meet these demands companies strive to optimize their operations, enhance product quality, and meet growing customer expectations, making the demand for data management throughout the product lifecycle critical. Therefore, companies have introduced product lifecycle management (PLM) systems. PLM is not only the evolution and succession of Product data management (PDM) but also holds the greatest future potential for company information solutions. The lack of required data and the inability to transfer the same to another system has always been a drawback of a PLM system. This thesis looks into enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of Discrete event simulation (DES) in a manufacturing environment by augmenting data integration techniques into Teamcenter, a widely used product lifecycle management tool. The study examines the difficulties in integrating real-world data into Teamcenter and extracting it from Teamcenter for DES applications. It focuses on the problems of the current data structure and the need for enhancing data management techniques. The study identifies the absence of critical data for simulation through a thorough qualitative study. A case study is carried out to show how the suggested methods improve the efficiency and accuracy of DES models. Also, improving decision-making and process enhancement in manufacturing. The results of this study propose ideas to include required data inside Teamcenter, extract them, and prepare them using a data management software tailor-made for performing Discrete Event Simulation. | |
