Sammanfattning

With the aim of preparing sustainable materials with potential in replacing oil-based not biodegradable plastics, melt processing of different biodegradable composites with internal mixer, single screw extruder or twin screw extruder has been carried out to investigate their processability. Different types of lignocellulosic materials in biodegradable polyesters have been studied with the aim of increasing their bio-based content, while preserving their biodegradability. Processing biocomposites together with compatibilizers has also been study to try to improve their properties and process ability. Manufacturing of biocomposites films was successfully performed by compression molding, film extrusion and film blowing process. Mechanical and thermal analyses were carried out to characterize the films properties. All properties of the biocomposites films were compered to reference materials to assess the effect of the intended reinforcement by using lignocellulosic materials, such as cellulose nanocrystals and pulp, including chemically modified pulp. Moreover, dry and wet feeding from water suspension of cellulosic materials was explored for improving the dispersion of cellulosic reinforcement into the different biodegradable matrices.
