| dc.description.abstract | This project was carried out in collaboration with United Destiny Shapers, a community based organisation (CBO) based in Kisumu. The project focused on fingerling production and was developed through a participatory and community-driven design process by four students from Chalmers University of Technology with backgrounds in Architecture and Industrial Design Engineering.( Through interviews, observations, sketching, and collaborative workshops with members of the fingerling team, local knowledge and practical experience was integrated into the design process. The aim of the project was to improve the harvesting procedure by creating a more reliable and predictable source of income for the community. (The final outcome was a full-scale fish net prototype constructed using locally available materials and building techniques. The proposal was designed to reduce physical strain during harvesting, improve efficiency in fingerling collection, and support long-term economic sustainability through adaptable and locally maintainable solutions. | |
