Sammanfattning
Velocity distributions were obtained in a swirling and a non-swirling jet flows at three axial location in the near field. The resulting mean velocity and Reynolds stress distributions are examined, and the energy budgets of the Reynolds stresses and turbulence kinetic energy equations are assessed. The non-swirling jet budgets qualitatively agree with previous measurements taken in the far field. At the axial locations measured, all Reynolds stresses showed larger values for the swirling case compared to the non-swirling one. The swirling jet is found to exhibit larger production, mean convection and turbulence transport terms in the energy budget of most of the Reynolds stress and the turbulence kinetic energy equations.
