Sweden, as rest of the world, stands before an extensive alteration of the energy technology system, away from the use of fossil fuels to a more sustainable energy system. In this report land based traffic, driven by electric motors, is discussed. The thesis is about vehicles propelled by fuel cells, fuelled by hydrogen. The question is if the by-products of the electrolysis of water and the by-products of hydrogen fuelled fuel cell driven vehicles, can be used to facilitate the technology shift. The thesis is a literature study, which also take to account that there should be functional and commercial technologies available. It was found that the oxygen can be utilized in several ways, heat, chill, hydrogen and water can make an economical contribution to the technology shift. It was further found that existing fuel cell and electrolysis technologies cannot replace the use of fossil fuels in a big scale, cause of the lack of the scarce metals. To that the availability of the flowing energy sources, as sun and wind power, are with current technologies not ample enough.
