A report from the National Board of Housing, Building and Planning named The Requirement of Housing Construction, published in March 2015 indicates that the shortage of accommodation will increase. A total of 700 000 new residences need to be built until 2025, while mainly young adults and immigrants do not have the economic power to fund the new constructed apartments. The National Board of Housing, Building and Planning want to find solutions. A solution that the Swedish engineering consultancy company Sweco has highlighted are temporary housing in the form of modules by container frames. In Gothenburg, the average time is approximately seven years before a building permit has passed all the criteria. Meanwhile, the available land is left unexploited which could have been used for temporary housing. By placing temporary modular container units on the ground during this time, could solve some of the current housing shortage. To develop Sweden's housing market in the right direction, it is important to design housing of high quality for the residents' well-being and to combat segregation. The aim of the project is to produce accessible housings with good architectural qualities for a single person, from two 20 foot containers. The floor plans are seen as proposals for Sweco, since they are investigating a similar issue in a current project including mobile homes with container frames. An inventory of modular housing by container frame based on international and national projects have been taken into consideration, to create the most optimum housing regarding the standards of accessibility for a person. Furthermore, literature studies have been adapted concerning the current set of regulations and factors that affects the experience of good architectural qualities in the accommodation.
