Sammanfattning
Sea rescue can be defined as the rescue of people who are or are believed to be in a state of emergency at sea. The state is responsible for organizing safety at sea and establishing one or more sea rescue stations. However, there are many operators who participate in conducting the sea rescue operations with vessels and aircrafts. One of these operators are The Swedish Sea Rescue Society (SSRS). SSRS is a nonprofit organization that works to rescue lives at sea. For several years SSRS has been developing a drone to be purposed for sea rescue. When receiving an emergency call the drone, which is controlled by a pilot located at SSRS’ office, will be launched from a launch tower. It will then arrive in advance to the scene of the emergency and provide the sea rescuers with a visual overview of the situation using a camera. This enables SSRS to prepare themselves better by bringing the necessary equipment and lowering the stress level in non-urgent cases. When the drone is inactive it will be housed in the launch tower of which a working prototype exists, though it is far from perfect. In order for The Sea Rescue Society to be able to place drones along the coasts, it is required that the tower’s mounting is developed and optimized with regards to different potential foundations. In addition to the mounting, the launch tower also needs to be encased in order to prevent electronics and other sensitive components being damaged by rain, rough winds and such. The goal of the project has been to develop a concept of the mounting as well as the casing for the launch tower. These will in the future help SSRS to achieve their ambitions of drone usage. The proposed concept of the mounting is a square plate which has been dimensioned to withstand the wind load that arises at a windspeed of 44.3 m/s when the launch tower is in an active state. It is possible to mount the plate on a dock, rock surface or a sand beach. The resulting concept of the casing are three shells that overlap each other which enables the telescope ability and rotation of the launch tower to act unhindered. The casing keeps water and dirt out to a large extent and protects the inside from external forces. When choosing the color scheme and the graphical design the esthetical expression of SSRS was taken into account as well as the environment in which the launch tower will be located in.
