Abstract

The purpose of this thesis was to develop a product that will simplify everyday life for the working pet owner. A market study revealed that there is a large market for pet feeders with a large target group who value the time they can spend outside the home. A pet feeder is an automated feeder that is designed to distribute food at certain times of the day. In this way, the pet owner can ensure that the pet receives the right amount of food during the day even if the owner is not at home. The work began with identifying the types of requirements that could be placed on a product of this nature, this was carried out through a market research. Then a customer needs list, requirements specification and function analysis could be designed. The idea generation begins in the form of a free idea generation and a morphological matrix. The concepts that were generated were then systematically eliminated through an Elimination Matrix, Pugh Matrix and Kesselring matrix where the concept one eventually became the best adapted concept based on set requirements and wishes. The concept was then further developed to create a final concept. The final concept is a product that consists of six components, the operation of the product is controlled by an Arduino Uno rev 3 microcontroller. The development of the components has been carried out using AM technology and the programming has been coded in Arduino IDE.
