Sammanfattning
This bachelor's thesis was carried out in collaboration with Husqvarna Group. The project aims to improve the design of the battery mount for the company’s battery-powered gardening tools. The current solution has shortcomings related to the risk of play in the electrical port, as well as issues with ergonomics and haptics—particularly when used with gloves and in demanding environments. The project focuses on developing a concept that offers a secure, play-free, and intuitive locking mechanism for the battery, both in the tool and in the charger, without increasing the number of components or the production costs for the company. Through preliminary studies, user studies and benchmarking, a requirement specification was formulated and multiple concepts were generated. These were evaluated using methods such as PNI and the Kesselring matrix. The final concept features an eccentric cam-based locking mechanism that offers good ergonomics, haptic feedback, and compatibility with Husqvarna’s existing design language. A prototype was constructed and evaluated in
terms of ergonomics and functionality.
