Sammanfattning

This thesis deals with the modeling and simulation of the large deformation of human brain tissue. The brain tissue is modeled as a porous viscoelastic medium. It consists of slightly compressible nonlinear visco-hyperelastic solid skeleton and the cerebrospinal fluid with which the solid skeleton is saturated. In a first attempt, the Maxwell model is adopted to describe the behavior of the solid skeleton of the brain tissue in case of uniaxial strain. The consolidation process of the bi-phase brain tissue is simulated under quasi-static loading. Calibration of the model parameters is done according to the experimental data acquired from former research.
