dc.description.abstract | This study addresses the advantages and disadvantages of installing a turbocharger with electrical assistance on board the vessel. The authors also look in this study what marine engine manufacturers view on having this kind of technology on a vessel and what future improvements that this technology can have in the shipping industry. The authors has also chosen to focus on the essential components that can be replaced or enhanced with this type of technology, with the aspect to look at what kind of energy improvements that can be made. Also deals with combining this technique with other turbocharger technologies to make it as effective as possible. In the background various techniques used on board ships in the current situation are described. Literature study and interviews were conducted to obtain the result. In order to obtain a result, assistant turbocharger technology was compared with standard components used on board today. | |
