This report contains an overview of a typical modern rock drum set and the acoustics describing them. Explanations of the modeling methods Digital Waveguides and Digital Waveguide Networks are given and then applied to simulating a tom tom drum. The results are compared to recordings of real tom tom drums made in an anechoic environment. Although clearly distinguishable from real drum sounds, basic acoustic properties are accurately modeled and the model can be used as a basis for more detailed physical modeling.
