Sammanfattning

This thesis investigates the optimization of a production layout for Aritco Home Lift AB using simulation-based methods. The primary objective was to improve space utilization and increase production efficiency without modifying the company’s current machinery. The methodology involved systematic layout planning (SLP), supplemented by both objective measurements and operator interviews to ensure ergonomic and practical feasibility. Two theoretical layout concepts were developed, evaluated, and compared through a standardized scoring method. A simulation model was constructed in Visual Components to visualize the chosen layout as well as analyzing simulated results through discrete event simulation (DES). Although the simulation did not yield quantitative data due to the software’s limitations in handling manual labor, the project resulted in a spatially efficient layout aligned with Aritco’s production goals. Ethical and sustainability considerations were integrated throughout the process to ensure that the proposed layout supports not only productivity but also worker wellbeing and future automation.
