Sammanfattning
As the incidence of wireless internet connections
have increased, the usage of laptops in public spaces
has become more and more common. In these environments
is the absence of electrical outlets often a
problem. The idea for this project is to supply electricity
at such places by integrating an outlet in a light
fixture.
The aim of this project has been to perform a
complete product development process and develop
an idéa into a functional prototype. This by using the
methodology we’ve learnt during our three years at
Product design engineering at Chalmers. The project
covers the development process, from identifying a
problem and studying the potential users to development
of CAD-models and building physical prototypes.
The product has been developed in corporation
with Fagerhult Professional, and an additional aim
has been to develop a lamp that complements their
range of products.
The lamp is a pendant fixture mainly meant to be
used in public surroundings such as for example
cafés. The lamp is designed to provide a sufficient
reading light. As the user connects i.e. a laptop to the
socket, the centre of gravity of the lamp changes. The
lamp turns and this movement result in a reduction of
the light at the table and irritating reflections in the
laptop-screen are avoided.
By taking advantage of the latest lighting technology
and by working with technology as a part of the
design instead of just as a complement to the design
our work has resulted in a unique and innovative
lighting fixture.
