Abstract

This bachelor’s thesis presents the development of a mobile game designed for children aged eight to twelve, in collaboration with the youth center Reningsborg in Tynnered, Gothenburg. The game aims to strengthen the connection between the children and the youth center by encouraging regular attendance through a reward system integrated into a playful and pedagogical digital environment. Children earn in-game currency by being physically present at the center, which can then be used to access and progress through various minigames in a 3D world inspired by the center’s real-life premises. The project was carried out using Unity and developed in parallel with two other bachelor theses responsible for administrative tools and backend systems. The game features two explorable worlds, collectible currencies, and minigames that emphasize memory and spatial reasoning. Through iterative development and feedback from the center’s staff, the system was adapted to suit both pedagogical goals and user experience. Although the game is still not publicly released on all mobile platforms, it fulfills the technical and functional requirements set by the client and serves as a foundation for future student-led improvements.
