| dc.description.abstract | The aim of this project was to develop a concept for a user-centered interface in truck instrument panels, characterized by Low-Tech principles and with a focus on reducing cognitive load and increasing traffic safety. The study's findings were based on insights from a combination of theoretical research in Low-Tech design, Human-Machine Interaction (HMI), and cognitive ergonomics, as well as user studies conducted with professional truck drivers. The results showed that drivers prefer interfaces that allow quick interaction, easy access to relevant information, and minimal visual distraction while driving. Based on these insights, a final concept was developed for an optimal Low-Tech HMI in a truck. The conclusion is that an ideal interface solution for truck instrument panels should combine both modern and traditional technologies, guided by the needs of the users. Future interface development should therefore be based on drivers' experiences and real-world demands, rather than on the ambition to implement the most advanced technology at any cost. | |
