Sammanfattning

This Master thesis consider the particle capture efficiency for particular water pollutants in a vegetation filter. This work is based on earlier research that investigate the capture efficiency for single cylinder and the aim of this work is to consider how the capture efficiency will change with an infinite row of cylinders perpendicular the flow direction. The first step was to analyze the flow distribution in the fluid domain and then to consider the particle capture through this cylinders. So a fixed number of particles that were released upwards the stream flow and then considered how many particles were captured bye this cylinder. The conclusions made from this Master thesis is that the effect of a more dense vegetation will give a higher capture efficiency and that a higher flow velocity (to some extent) also will give a higher capture efficiency.
