Abstract
This thesis presents the development of a home healthcare concept for a product designed to
measure CRP (C-reactive protein) levels. The project was commissioned by the research and
development team at Plasmantic and carried out by a dedicated design group. Through
extensive user studies and usability research, the team developed a concept that fulfills the
majority of the defined requirements. These requirements were based both on the
specifications provided by the project team and on additional criteria established by the
design group. These included considerations related to ergonomics, regulatory standards for
home medical devices, technical feasibility, and sustainability. The final concept emphasizes
long product lifespan through maintainability and modular design, cost-efficiency by
minimizing the size and waste of disposable components. Although the concept does not
achieve a fully minimalistic testing process due to technical requirements such as the manual
mixing of buffer solution to ensure reliable outcomes, this added procedural step is
considered a justified compromise. It enhances the accuracy and clinical reliability of test
results, provided the procedure is conducted in strict accordance with the product’s usage
guidelines.
