Tugboats and ships interact and affect each other in different ways when connecting bow-bow. Several risks and potential problems can occur when connecting bow-bow between a ship and a tugboat. There have been several accidents throughout the years that include bow-bow connections. The aim of this research is to verify from tugboat personnel the risks that they encounter in real life and test these different scenarios in a simulator. The study also compares different ship types and looks at the potential differences in hydrodynamic forces. This study could determine four main factors that affected the tugboat. These factors include speed, distance between ships, making a turn and the characteristics of different ship types.
