dc.description.abstractThis research aims to design modifications for a Formula Student car so that it has active aerodynamic devices focusing on the front wing. The modifications will be simulated using transient flow physics in computational fluid dynamics simulations employing Detached Eddy Simulation, focusing on moving geometry effects at different actuation and vehicle speeds. The aim is to quantify the time lag between mechanical movement and the stabilization of aerodynamic forces, identify the presence of unstable vortex shedding generated during the transition and to establish the relationship between actuation speed and flow efficiency to determine a safe working window for aerodynamic stability while reducing drag as much as possible. The simulations were carried out across five DRS configurations, leading to a drag reduction of up to 5.5% while maintaining stable transient behavior during actuation.
