Abstract

Automation and IoT are prominent in today’s society. This makes the idea of automating the surveillance of life saving equipment an intriguing one. Searching for a solution to this, Swedish life saving equipment company Shore Safety wanted to test the feasibility of a post specific surveillance system. This thesis focuses on the construction and testing of said system. The ultimate goal being the weighing of the post and sending the data to the internet. The way this is done in this project is by using a load cell, an Arduino card and a LoRa connection. The post being fitted with these, a prototype was created and tested. The results being in line with what was expected, this can serve as a basis for Shore Safety’s continued work on the autonomous post
