Sammanfattning
This thesis presents the design and assembly of a ring wave generator developed in
accordance with the requirements specified in the international standard IEC 61000-
4-12. Component values were determined through analytical calculations and circuit
simulations, with all components rated for a 4 kV ring wave output. Procuring a
reliable high-voltage switch proved particularly problematic, leading to the implementation
of a triggered spark gap utilizing gas discharge tubes. The assembled
generator demonstrated low parasitic elements across all components. However,
accurately estimating parasitic values in advance proved challenging, resulting in
deviations between simulated and measured waveforms. Most notably, and unlike
what was observed in simulation, the waveform exhibited minor variations across
different voltage levels, particularly in the damping characteristics of the ring wave.
Although the measured open-circuit voltage rise time of 720 ns exceeded the standard’s
limit of 650 ns, all other parameters were successfully met, where frequency
was measured between 93.3-96.5 kHz and peak ratios between 0.55-0.8.
