Abstract
The Ordrupgaard museum consists of four different buidlings built during the last 100 years. The older two classicist buildings are designed by the danish architects Gotfred Tvede and Finn Juhl. Zaha Hadids extention from 2005 contrasted with the old structures and created a new relationship with the surrounding landscape. The way the building structure follows the topography can also be experienced from the interior landscape. With its organic lines, the building passes through the slightly rolling landscape, erasing the traditional way where ground meets wall and creating a floating effect. The large window openings let in lots of natural light into the exhibitions, and the reflecting effect on the outside of the glass blends the facade into the surrounding landscape. With this new extension building, the museum could further develop their exhibition opportunities, even in the international scene.
