Today, the majority of the world's ships / boats use fossil fuels for its propulsion. Fossil fuels are a finite resource and in the "present" after combustion a large contributor to the Earth's total greenhouse gas emissions, which in turn affect the greenhouse effect and the global warming. A small hull roughness is possible essential for optimum fuel consumption on a ship. Fouling on the hull of a vessel increases the ship's drag through the water and also the fuel consumption. This report will try to answer the question through interviews and literature studies whether it is possible to increase the awareness of fouling’s effects this by becoming informed about new antifouling methods. For example, physically measuring the friction increases at the surface layer part of the Periodic maintenance system. Interview group consisted of 8 people linked to the maritime world question answered by the interviews and literature studies focused on and around various antifouling methods. The final result shows that a trend that you can change people's valuation of hull friction in a fuel reduction perspective.
