dc.description.abstract | Manufacturing industries are experiencing a surge in technological advancements and innovative practices aimed at creating mass customization while minimizing costs and lead times. Despite this significant shift, the industry is struggling to adapt and embrace these changes fully. Various departments of manufacturing com panies continue to work in silos, failing to recognize the huge benefits of concurrent engineering. Product design teams have been using design software for several decades, but the integration of these systems with other business practices within the manufactur ing industry is relatively new. Dassault Systemes’ 3D Experience platform aims to address this by offering a unified platform that integrates all the necessary tools and software required by manufacturing companies, fostering a more collaborative environment. The focus of this study is to explore the integration of three key disciplines i.e. design of equipment, equipment/robot simulation, and factory flow, to promote collabora tion and enhance overall effectiveness. By leveraging the available tools on the 3D Experience platform, the study seeks to establish a work structure that integrates the three disciplines. The study’s findings shed light on the presence of numerous tools that foster the establishment of a collaborative environment. The insights gained from the case project have resulted in a comprehension that utilizing these tools holds immense promise in enhancing the productivity and effectiveness of product design teams. | |
