dc.description.abstractSeelution AB is a fast-growing, relatively new manufacturing company which specializes in emulsion technique and sustainable packaging barriers. The head office is in Gothenburg and the factory where the production takes place, which was acquired in 2016, is in Kristinehamn. Today Seelution AB has around 10 employees and to keep up with constantly increasing demand, it is required that several energy-saving measures are implemented, and that the production efficiency is optimized. The project aims to streamline Seelution AB's production plant. The methods used to achieve this purpose are energy mapping including thermodynamics calculations, value stream mapping (VSM), and literature studies. The company was also visited to collect data about the production system. As a result of the streamlining, the calculations showed that the heating process of the raw materials required a lot of energy and that the capacity of the production was not optimised. The VSM showed that the factory’s lead times are long and that the layout regarding the inventory among other needs to be improved. The energy mapping, VSM and literature studies resulted in improvements for the production system, which are presented below: • Utilize the energy generated by the scrubber • Utilize the energy generated by the heat exchanger • Invest in steam traps and thermostatic dehumidifiers • Rearrange the layout for the inventory • Invest sensors inside the customer tanks that register continuously the amount of product In the discussion the results have been analyzed together with all methods based on their advantages and disadvantages. The conclusion is that the factory in Kristinehamn has areas of improvements. At present, the factory is well functioning with no overproduction taking place, no unnecessary processing, and no wait between processes. However, there is a great need of reducing energy losses in the production flow, the recommendations are that Seelution AB completes the value stream mapping and the energy mapping for a more effective production.sv
