Design av en analog interaktiv station på ett museum

Sammanfattning

The Röhsska Museum, a museum for design and craft, is set to open a new permanent exhibition: Design Stories during 2024 and has previously identified that visitors often find museums too passive. To counteract this, Röhsska plans to incorporate interactive stations into the new exhibition. This project aims to investigate how such an interactive station can promote enjoyable discovery for museum visitors and at the same time convey a message from one of the themes of the exhibition, Rationalization. The goal is to develop a concept for such a station. Like the exhibition itself, the interactive station’s target audience is first-year students at university majoring in design, fashion, crafts and architecture as well as last-year students in all high school tracks. The project has been conducted with the Röhsska Museum as an external client. The result outlines how an interactive station that promotes playful discovery for visitors should be designed, what and how the station can convey a message from the theme Rationalization as well as parts of the problem description developed during the project. The result also includes a description of three developed concepts that meet the set goals as well as a more in-depth description of the final concept, Corbussel. The project has also resulted in several conclusions regarding its purpose, including: • The station should not be perceived as overly educational or instructing but rather playful. • The station should offer both communal and individual activities as well as allow the visitor to engage in competition. • The station should be designed in a way that allows the visitor to feel safe during the activity
