- PostBase Hunter A chemistry based learning game(2014) Becker, Johan; Edholm, Emil; Gelter, Pierre; Gustafsson, Johan; Larsson, Tove; Svensson, Emelie; Chalmers tekniska högskola / Institutionen för data- och informationsteknik (Chalmers); Chalmers University of Technology / Department of Computer Science and Engineering (Chalmers)Students of today generally nd chemistry boring and uninteresting. They claim that this is partly due to the fact that they do not understand how to relate to chemistry in a real world setting. This has led to fewer and fewer people studying chemistry. In hope of reversing this negative trend, Molecular Frontiers Foundation initiated this project. The purpose of the project is creating a game that puts chemistry into a context that students can relate to. The hope of this project is that contextual awareness might lead to an increased interest in chemistry. The work started with a thorough study of pedagogy in order to know what approach the game should take on the educational part of the game. Base Hunter has to be considered enjoyable and achieving this is usually where most educational games fail. The implementation of Base Hunter has involved 3D modelling in Blender and the development of the game has been done using the game engine Unity. The starting point of the implementation was the concept model which was developed based on the pedagogical aspects studied and the requirements from Molecular Frontiers. The project has resulted in the game Base Hunter. The players ultimate goal in Base Hunter is returning home safely from an unknown planet that the player has crash landed on. For the player to be able to do so he needs protection against the hostile aliens living on the planet. This protection is attained by gathering di erent elements and raw materials and combining these, making a new type of protective suit of armour made of the newly formed material. It is time-consuming to develop a game that is considered fun, especially when developing an educational game. Therefore it can be discussed whether or not Base Hunter is considered fun and inspiring. The game is in an early development phase but still has a stable foundation to build upon, even though it currently does not contain enough content to be considered educational and entertaining. The report contains a discussion covering these aspects and also covers several ideas for future development that are in line with the development methods used in pedagogical games.
- PostSuperBooky - modernt webbaserat bokföringsprogram för småföretag(2015) Baždarevic, Dženan; Chiniquy Engström, Daniel; Frölich, Isabelle; Csörgei Gustavsson, Jakob; Lazic, Alexandra; Wibeck, Victor; Chalmers tekniska högskola / Institutionen för data- och informationsteknik (Chalmers); Chalmers University of Technology / Department of Computer Science and Engineering (Chalmers)The aim of this report is to give the reader insight into the development of the web-based accounting application SuperBooky. Accounting is a complex task that many beginner entrepreneurs struggle with. The development of this application was therefore focused on making accounting as convenient and as easy as possible. The end product targets small enterprises and its functionality was designed with this in mind. To make sure that the application was designed in a user-friendly way, polls were carried out among individuals with basic accounting knowledge. These polls were then used as a basis when the application was under development, to ensure that it was well-suited to the target audience. This project was carried out as a bachelor’s thesis for Chalmers University of Technology and University of Gothenburg during Spring 2015. This report is written in Swedish.
- PostThe future of lab submission systems at Chalmers An overview of implementation models and design(2018) Ahlberger, Martin; Berndtsson, Johan; Nilsson, Gustav; Miller, Kamil; Rönnberg, Magnus; Tobiasson, Edvin; Chalmers tekniska högskola / Institutionen för data- och informationsteknik (Chalmers); Chalmers University of Technology / Department of Computer Science and Engineering (Chalmers)Chalmers is about to change learning management system from PingPong to Canvas. The department of computer science and engineering are uncertain about the future of the current lab submission system, FIRE. There are di erent solutions that lets Canvas work as a lab submission system. This thesis tries to examine which of the solutions that will work best. The result will be in the form of four solution propositions. These solutions propositions were made by following the Goal-Directed Design Process, stated by Alan Cooper. In the end a recommended solution proposition is presented which, based on the information gathered in this study, suit Chalmers' needs best.
- PostTräning och Kost - En tillämpning av Internet of Things genom sammankoppling av en Android-telefon, en matvåg och ett aktivitetsarmband(2015) Gustafsson, Emma; Hartman, Johanna; Hasselquist, Tomas; Jilsén, Adam; Lagerstedt, Marcus; Nordholts, Johan; Chalmers tekniska högskola / Institutionen för data- och informationsteknik (Chalmers); Chalmers University of Technology / Department of Computer Science and Engineering (Chalmers)This report is the result of the Bachelor’s thesis “Träning och Kost” which was conducted during the spring of 2015 around the concept of Internet of Things. Using a mobile phone, a food scale and an activity tracker, an Android application has been developed in order to study how these items work together in a system. The report analyses and discusses the challenges of how these items relate to Internet of Things, what types of communications are needed for them to communicate with each other, and how this can be implemented in an Android application. The project results in a working mobile application that lets the items communicate with each other using Bluetooth and Internet. The use of a food scale in an application of this kind is what makes the project unique in comparison to similar products. An important point of discussion lies in the unwillingness of companies to provide open APIs for external developer to use. This makes it difficult for developers to create new adaptions of IoT by using existing products. Locked-in APIs also opens up to the question of integrity since it lets companys collect data from the users to a higher extent.
