Abstract: The advent of cheap depth cameras such as Microsoft Kinect together with modern reconstruction algorithms implemented for the Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) o ers the potential of many new exciting applications. In this thesis, a scanning booth equipped with three Kinect cameras is built, where a user can scan their head and upper body into a high-quality textured 3D model. This is done using a variant of the KinectFusion algorithm, adapted to work with multiple cameras. The system operates in real-time and the reconstructed model is presented within seconds.
