The Thule Chariot Sport 2 double is a well-established, multifunctional multisport stroller designed for cycling, strolling, jogging, and cross-country skiing. In urban environments, active parents often face a transport gap where cycling can feel too cumbersome for short errands, while walking is too time-consuming. To expand the stroller's versatility and offer a more flexible urban transport solution, this thesis developed a modular kick bike accessory that transforms the stroller into a kick scooter, prioritizing safety, ergonomics, and stability while harmonizing with Thule's brand identity. Adhering to the "Double Diamond" design process framework (SVID), the project utilized iterative divergent and convergent phases. A user study comprising a digital survey and semistructured interviews formed the foundation for a prioritized requirement specification. Technical concepts were evaluated and verified through mock-ups, prototypes, Pugh matrices, physical braking tests, structural calculations for axle loading, and digital CAD modeling in SolidWorks. The final modular accessory consists of a split reinforcement sleeve clamped around the stroller's rear axle to distribute bending moments, a spring-loaded quick-release connector, and a low-profile ergonomic deck with a ground clearance of approximately 4cm lined with high-friction griptape. Furthermore, the design features an 8.5-inch pneumatic rear wheel with a split rim for simplified tire replacement, a foot-activated mechanical disc brake actuated by an intuitive backward-sweeping motion integrated into a structurally reinforced fender, and two storage solutions: a long-term mode and a diagonal folding position. This thesis demonstrates the technical and functional feasibility of integrating a kick-scooter function onto an existing stroller platform, offering a safe, stable, and emotionally engaging riding experience that integrates seamlessly into the stroller's ecosystem.
