Processutveckling för förbättrad och effektiviserad ESG-rapportering

Sammanfattning

This thesis was conducted at JENSEN Sweden with the aim of investigating how the company’s process for handling chemical information can be improved and quality assured. The project focused on developing a solution that ensures that information about chemicals, such as safety data sheets and consumption data, is accurate and up to date. The work was based on Six Sigma, using the DMAIC methodology as a framework to move from current state analysis to a concrete improvement proposal. Currently, several aspects of the process were poorly defined, with unclear responsibilities and a workflow lacking standardized routines. Through process analysis using tools such as flowcharts, cause and effect matrix, and potential failure mode and effects analysis, the steps contributing most to process variation were identified. The result of the project is a proposed process where responsibilities are clearly assigned, redundant work is reduced and critical steps such as updating safety data sheets are carried out. The proposed solution includes that all chemical purchases must be handled by the purchasing department, thereby creating control over the inflow. In the goods reception, chemicals are checked against a chemical list and new chemicals are documented at delivery. An additional check is performed during safety inspections, where all safety data sheets are updated to ensure accurate information. The project demonstrates that significant improvements do not always require advanced solutions. Sometimes, regulation and responsibility allocation are key to ensuring the functionality of a process. The solution does not require new technical systems, yet it still creates better conditions for accurate ESG reporting
