dc.description.abstract | Ground improvement methods are commonly used to improve the stiffness and the settlement of soft soils. Deep mixing method using grouting additives is one of these ground improvement methods. Lime-cement columns ground improvement method is one of the most usable methods in Europe, Asia and Scandinavians countries. In this thesis an embankment constructed on lime-cement and a soft clay soil layer is studied and calculated by tow calculations methods. The manual Swedish method, and the finite element method using volume averaging techniques with Plaxis 2D. The aim of the study is to calculate the deep mixing effects on studied soft soil by using manual Swedish method and volume averaging techniques method with Plaxis 2D, and to compare the results and the main differences, benefits and shortcomings between these tow methods. | |
