Att trigga förändring hemma innan sakerna tar över

Sammanfattning

A challenge in the transition to a circular economy is the many unused resources stored in households in the form of forgotten products. How to help households circulate their products is explored in this bachelor’s thesis, written in Swedish. Asked research questions are, which strategies can support households to circulate their products? As well as, how and through what medium should the strategies be provided and communicated to be useful for households? Following a literature review and ideation, seven distinct prototypes of tools were developed. The prototypes were practically tested with participants who were interviewed afterwards. Qualitative data from the interviews was analysed, which resulted in insights into how tools should be developed to support households’ circulation of products. This resulted in a final concept, which is a website that compiles refined versions of the prototypes. Externally to the website, graphic materials were developed for a brochure and advertisement as an introduction to the website. The conclusion of this bachelor’s thesis was that both strategies and tools work differently depending on the user’s personality, living arrangements, household size, knowledge, commitment and motivation. Therefore, an assortment of guiding tools should be given to households to inspire them and trigger change. One way to address that is with the presented concept. Further research is needed to validate these claims further as well as to follow up with participants to see the long-term effects of the tools and strategies.
