dc.description.abstractThe thesis work has been executed on behalf of Vara Byggkonsult AB, a company that works with a big variety of tasks including construction calculation and building permits. The project was first intended because of a fear that a truss produced by Bjärke Takstolar AB shows incorrect values in deformation. Results from the project is based on a real-life experiment where different types of trusses have been put under load. Corresponding deformations has been measured and analysed to find out how the trusses are behaving under stress and how deformation of them can cause problems in houses. With help from these results a modified truss has been engineered to decrease deformation but at the same time retain the characteristics of the truss that enables high clearance. This model is based on the original truss but includes a pull rod that connects both sides of the truss. The pull rod has the dimensions 45 mm * 120 mm and is placed 885 mm from the underside of the truss. This is estimated to be enough to achieve the given values of deformation and at the same time remain a feasible and economical solution.sv
