Sammanfattning
This bachelor thesis has been carried out to investigate how a workplace for a specific operator can be de signed when relocating to a new and centralized control room at Vargön Alloys AB. To achieve this, the
needs and requirements of the mentioned operator are analyzed. The operator’s work includes controlling
and monitoring alloy furnaces at Vargön Alloys, an alloy plant. The development of the new workplace is
mainly based on interviews, but other data collection methods were also applied to identify the user’s needs.
The thesis also uses evaluation methods to select the final design of the workplace.
Important conclusions in this thesis are to imitate a proximity to the furnace due to the increased distance,
to have the possibility to take breaks, to increase the collaboration between the operators, an ergonomic
workplace and to reduce a noisy environment. The result, The Arc, is a social, professional, and modern
workplace for the operators of the future.
The bachelor thesis has been carried out in collaboration with Boid AB, whose task was the development of
the new control room. Both the bachelor group and Boid have Vargön Alloys as their employer.
