Abstract

This report presents the development of an extruder for a Fused Deposition Modelling 3D-printer. The aim of the report was to create a more time- and cost-efficient, as well as a more environmentally friendly, extruder solution. To achieve this, user surveys, tests, and analyses of competitors' solutions were conducted to identify common problems and strengths of extruders. Based on these insights, a prototype was developed, see figure 0.2, featuring feed wheels with an 8 mm inner diameter to ensure smooth output and minimize extrusion errors. The chassi was made of HDPE with 30% fiberglass to provide the extruder with low weight, cost, and environmental impact. The conclusion was that the new design was time- and cost-efficient and reduced environmental impact
